Ku Kluck Bill

Meet Ku Kluck Bill, World youngest KluckerKlansmen won't have to go far to find friends in 'Platt National Park': 'The (Klan) playground of the southwest'. A good health and pleasure resort. Where klansmen and their families can find wholesome surroundings and a Klan atmosphere. A good program and parade Klan day, June 16, 1924. Come sunday and visit our churches. A fine place to spend your vacation. Sulphur Klan no.38

As you lie there and listen to my voice
you know that I am your friend
and so, you can rest now
you will listen to my voice
and you'll remember everything I say
because you know
we love you
we want you
and we need you
and your family is very proud of you
you will listen to my voice
and you will rest quietly
you can do everything I tell you
and remember everything I tell you
you know we love you
and we want you
and we need you
and you are safe in our care
so when you are happy we are proud of you
all children stop some time each day to wash themselves
because everyone look so good when they are clean
and you are clean and careful
because you want to be clean
how nice you look
and how proud everyone is of you
new toys look so nice
and new clothes look nice
and you like to help by keeping your things
as nice and clean as they should be
and the best way to keep your things that way
is to always put your things away
when you are through playing with them
you can be real proud of yourself
and real proud that your things are nice and clean
and always put away
then everyone will know
that you are growing up
yes, you can be sure that when you pick up your things
and try to keep yourself clean
that you are helping
you are growing up
you are happy that you can help
you are so happy you are growing up
you like growing up
everyone has things they like very much
and you do too
and when everyone sees
how well you keep your toys and things
your whole family will be proud of you
yes, proud that you can do all the things they want you to
you will be happy

Deslumbramento prometido

BRANCO E VERMELHO

A dor, forte e imprevista,
Ferindo-me, imprevista,
De branca e de imprevista
Foi um deslumbramento,
Que me endoidou a vista,
Fez-me perder a vista,
Fez-me fugir a vista,
Num doce esvaimento.

Como um deserto imenso,
Branco deserto imenso,
Resplandecente e imenso,
Fez-se em redor de mim.
Todo o meu ser suspenso,
Não sinto já, não penso,
Pairo na luz, suspenso...
Que delícia sem fim!

(...)

A dor, deserto imenso,
Branco deserto imenso,
Resplandecente e imenso,
Foi um deslumbramento.
Todo o meu ser suspenso,
Não sinto já, não penso,
Pairo na luz, suspenso,
Num doce esvaimento.

Ó Morte, vem depressa,
Acorda, vem depressa,
Acode-me depressa.
Vem-me enxugar o suor,
Que o estertor começa.
É cumprir a promessa.

Adenda: Instalei agora o Opera. Aparece como Deus ordena.

Adenda 2: Deus declara-se igualmente satisfeito com o comportamento do Safari.

Adenda 3: Curioso, o problema só surge na raiz. Abrindo qualquer post, lá está a coluna no sítio certo.

Adenda 4: Localizei o problema. A culpa é do "Blu" (o vizinho de baixo). Resta saber porquê e como resolvê-lo.

Adenda 5: Resolvido. Um problema de HTML. Curioso como só fez comichão à Besta.

Suffragettes

A Suffragette's home

Cartaz da National League for Opposing Woman Suffrage (1900)

A Suffragette's home (pormenor)

"Back in an hour or so"

Via 5 Dias.

"In the late 19th century, Europe and the United States, Australia and a handful of other countries struggled towards democracy. Few men had to fight as hard as almost all women for their basic rights to work, to vote, to own property, but perhaps those women who found themselves on the political battleground were the lucky ones. Three quarters of the world's women couldn't even protest against their traditional roles of looking after the home, hut or hovel and raising the family that so often starved and ailed in it.

In 1852, Florence Nightingale had despairingly written: «Women are never supposed to have any occupation of sufficient importance not to be interrupted.» But, in the West at least, women's lives were dramatically changing. By the early 1900s there were 174,000 female shop assistants in Germany, 76,000 female local government officials in Britain, and the invention of the typewriter had led to a 25-fold increase in the number of women clerks in Europe.

Women could now go to university, join sports clubs, smoke in public, travel, and, in middle-class cases, live independently of men. But they couldn't vote. Many of their sex thought they shouldn't. In 1877, Mrs Sutherland Orr declared: «The one fatal result of female emancipation is that... not only the power of love in women, but for either sex... will have passed away.»

Love or politics? Many middle- and upper-class women in Britain and United States chose politics. The women who set fire to churches, chained themselves to the railings of important buildings, slashed famous paintings and smashed shop windows almost all came from 'good' families."

Cunt Coloring Book

Cunt Coloring Book - Tee Corinne

«In 1973 I set out to do drawings of women’s genitals for use in sex education groups. I wanted the drawings to be lovely and informative, to give pleasure and affirmation.

I organized the drawings into a coloring book because a major way we learn to understand the world, as children, is by coloring. As adults many of us still need to learn about our external sexual anatomy. Coloring is a way for the child in each of us to revision and reclaim this portion of our bodies from which we have been estranged.

The Cunt Coloring Book, published in 1975, was immediately and wildly popular, although many people complained about the "awful" title. Three printings later, in 1981, the title was changed to Labiaflowers and the book virtually died. So much for euphemisms.»

Momento para a posteridade

fotografia postmortem

fotografia postmortem, autor desconhecido

"These photographs were a common aspect of American culture, a part of the mourning and memorialization process. Surviving families were proud of these images and hung them in their homes, sent copies to friends and relatives, wore them as lockets or carried them as pocket mirrors. Nineteenth-century Americans knew how to respond to these images. Today there is no culturally normative response to postmortem photographs. Discussions of death in books are prolific, and we are accustomed to images of death as part of our daily news; but actual death, as a part of private lives, has become a shameful and unspoken subject."

Nada como ter auto-estima

Da compilação Las Vegas Grind 6 (1956-1965):

Let me kiss myself

New York City in royal state
Well I'm a mighty potentate
My beauty leaves women in a trance
They scream "there's no one like Sundance"

I can't help it I'm a pretty man
I am doing the best I can
To keep myself in shape
To make the little girls go weep

With mighty chest and voice so mellow
I am the most beautiful fellow
Who's walked this earth by night or day
I'm even prettier than Cassius Clay

Yes, I can't help it I'm a pretty man
I am doing the best I can
To keep myself in shape
To make the little girls go weep

It keeps my long legs busy
Running the gamut from Charlie Mae to Lizzie
And when I take my royal pleasure
The thrill is just too much to measure

I can't help it I'm a pretty man
I am doing the best I can
To keep myself in shape
To make the little girls go weep

I'm just so pretty,
Just so pretty
Oh, I'm so beautiful

This big sweet lips that I carry
I plant on everything I merry
Oh, to the horror of my harem
I go brrrrrrrrrrr just to scare 'em

I can't help it I'm a pretty man
I am doing the best I can
To keep myself in shape
To make the little girls go weep

Most strong and valorous in my might
I would much rather make love than fight
The chicks acclaimed with one accord
"His lips' mightier than a sword"

I can't help it I'm a pretty man
I am doing the best I can
To keep myself in shape
To make the little girls go weep

I'm just so pretty
Just so pretty
Oh, I'm so beautiful
Oh, I'm just so beautiful

Antínoo

Antínoo

«While bathing, Antinous was seen by Minerva, who was so enamoured of his beauty that, all armed as she happened to be, she descended from Olympus to woo him; but, unluckily displaying her shield, with the head of Medusa on it, she had the unhappiness to see the beautiful mortal turn to stone from catching a glimpse of it. She straightway ascended to ask Jove to restore him; but before this could be done a Sculptor and a Critic passed that way and espied him.

"This is a very bad Apollo," said the Sculptor: "the chest is too narrow, and one arm is at least a half-inch shorter than the other. The attitude is unnatural, and I may say impossible. Ah! my friend, you should see my statue of Antinous."

"In my judgement, the figure," said the Critic, "is tolerably good, though rather Etrurian, but the expression of the face is decidedly Tuscan, and therefore false to nature. By the way, have you read my work on 'The Fallaciousness of the Aspectual in Art'?"»
